The Economist has a new cogent article about the current crisis in the global food system.  Climate change and expensive oil feature predominantly.  Burgeoning population growth looms over it all.

We need to produce a lot more food in the coming years.  Decentralizing and localizing food production is one way, which also happens to reduce energy consumption and create food security for the participating community.
